The Power of Persistence: Keep Going Even When It’s Tough

There’s something about persistence that makes all the difference. When you’re in the middle of the struggle, it’s easy to feel like nothing is changing, like you’re stuck in the same place despite all the effort you’re putting in. But when you look back, you realize just how far you’ve come.

Take my spin classes, for example. When I first started, I had to keep the resistance low just to make it through the workout. It felt challenging, and I wondered if I’d ever improve. But I kept showing up. Day after day, class after class, I pedaled through the tough moments. Some days, I didn’t feel like I had made any progress at all.

But then, one day, I looked at the resistance level I was riding with, and it hit me—I had been pushing at a much higher level than when I started. It wasn’t a sudden jump. There was no single class where I magically became stronger. It was all the small, incremental changes adding up over time. The tiny increases in resistance, the endurance that built with each ride, the mental strength to keep going even when my legs burned—all of it created real progress.

That’s the thing about persistence. It doesn’t always feel like progress in the moment, but every effort compounds.
